But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:23-24

The Bible says that God inhabits the praises of His people and is seeking those who will worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. At Return Church, we meet corporately each week to worship our creator and redeemer, Jesus Christ. We recognize His personal presence in our lives as we worship Him with our entire beings: body, soul, and spirit. When we worship Him, we are ascribing the ultimate value in our lives to God. As we worship, we are giving affection, praise, and honor to the Savior Jesus Christ and gazing upon Him and His glorious grace and eternal beauty.

We may worship a bit differently than what you are accustomed to, depending on your previous church experiences. However, please know that all of our worship is Biblically grounded, following the leading of the Holy Spirit. We flow in whatever manner the Holy Spirit manifests Himself, yet all things are done according to the Holy Scriptures, decently and in order.

Quench not the Spirit. I Thessalonians 5:19

Let all things be done decently and in order. I Corinthians 14:40

Our services encourage congregational involvement because each person is blessed by the presence of God as he or she engages in worship. If you see or hear things that you are unfamiliar or uncomfortable with, give us a chance to expound from the scriptures our reasons for worshipping as we do at Return Church.

We enter into God’s Presence with Thanksgiving and Praise.

Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. Psalms 100:1-2, 4

We sing new contemporary songs, choruses, and old hymns.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Colossians 3:16

...be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:18-20 NLT

We use many different instruments of worship.

Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high-sounding cymbals. Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD. Psalms 150:1-6

Sometimes we raise our hands in worship.

Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Thus, will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. Psalms 63:3-4

I will therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. I Timothy 2:8

Sometimes we clap our hands in worship.

O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph. Psalms 47:1

Sometimes we are loud when we worship.

O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. Psalms 95:1-2

Sing unto him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise. Psalms 33:3

Sometimes we are quiet when we worship.

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalms 46:10

But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him. Habakkuk 2:20

Sometimes we bow or kneel before God.

O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker. Psalms 95:6

Sometimes we dance in worship.

Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp. Psalms 149:3

Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Psalms 150:4

We anoint the sick with oil and pray for them.

Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. James 5:14-15 NLT

Sometimes the Holy Spirit will prophesy.

But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. I Corinthians 14:3

For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted. And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. I Corinthians 14:31-33

Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. I Thessalonians 5:19-21

Sometimes the Holy Spirit gives a message in an unknown tongue with an interpretation.

If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret. But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God. I Corinthians 14:27-28

God is an infinite God who can express Himself through us individually, as well as manifest Himself through His church in an infinite amount of unique ways. Sometimes we cry tears of gratitude, other times tears of sorrow or repentance. Sometimes we are so happy that we leap, or jump and sometimes we are gratefully still before God our maker. There are many different gifts or manifestations of the Holy Spirit recorded in God’s Word and we believe that all the gifts of the Spirit are still alive and in operation today through the church of Jesus Christ.

We invite you to put your focus and attention upon Jesus Christ and as you gaze upon His goodness and glory, bring your heart into a truly worshipful experience unto the one true God, the Lord Jesus Christ.
