Return sermon shared on Sunday, October 4, 2015.
Many Christians reduce the Holy Spirit down to the least member of the Godhead when He is just as much God as the Father or the Son. In this lesson, we see the importance of being filled with the Holy Spirit and we learn more of how the Holy Spirit works on our behalf.
Jesus is called the Advocate in I John, as He states His case to the Father on our behalf. But the Holy Spirit is also called the Advocate, and it is His job to state God’s case to us, for us. He leads and guides us each day, communicating the communicable divine attributes of God to us. He convicts us of sin and He shows us the holiness and righteousness of God. It is the ministry of the Holy Spirit to sanctify us and help us conform into the image and likeness of Jesus Christ.
