In this lesson, we study Philippians 4:4-8 and look at how to overcome worry and anxiety through prayer.  Prayer should be first upward, (praise, thanksgiving, adoration), then inward (self-examination, confession, repentance), then outward (praying for others, things, circumstance). The LORD’s Prayer gives us this same model - upward, inward and outward.

We also look at what prayer is not, and that is spending 1/2 hour on your knees or face and in your mind not even thinking about God.  We take a look at self-centered repentance - which is really nothing more than self-pity or self-flagilation trying to earn God’s favor of forgiveness.  True Repentance is admitting or confessing and forsaking your sin. 

We close with the challenge to not only give our hearts to Jesus, but also to give our minds, or our thinking, to Jesus.
