Return sermon shared on Sunday, May 17, 2015.
The name Hosea means “salvation“ - Jesus is our Hosea. The name Gomer means “completion, to bring to an end, performance” - I am Gomer. Jesus completes me. Jesus brings to an end certain things in my life, that He might work the performance in my life. God wants to bring the Idolatry to an end so that He can complete the work that He has began in us. Hosea went and found Gomer and bought her back, He paid the price for her freedom and then he said vows to her once again. We owe Jesus everything, He did it all. We were helplessly and hopelessly lost without power or strength to save ourselves, and Jesus, our Hosea, came and found us and purchased us with His own blood to pay the price to buy us back from the enemy. Gomer was also a picture of Israel and once he had purchased her back, he asked her to Return.
