Religion is all about rules and rituals, but Christianity is all about relationships. Jesus came to restore us to a right relationship with God and with each other. Jesus told us to love the LORD with all of our heart soul and mind and then to love our neighbor as our self. God is intentionally relational with all of us and He desires a personal relationship with us, more than we desire one with Him. God is always looking for someone with a friendly heart toward Him. We say we love God but we have trouble either loving the brethren or the lost, when God wants us to love our neighbors, the believers and the non-believers. Spiritual maturity is not measured by length of service to God or by how much knowledge you have acquired over the years, but rather it is measured by how well do you love God, love the brethren and love the lost. Most people have trouble loving God or others well, because they do not know how to love themselves. We must see ourselves the way that God sees us in order to love ourselves in a healthy way.
